Gateway Metalworks secured a Grade-A office development housing 8 multinational companies with demanding security requirements. The project required security infrastructure that complemented the architectural aesthetic while meeting corporate tenant standards. We delivered a high-end solution that merges sophisticated design with formidable security functionality. This installation protects high-profile corporate assets in Johannesburg's busiest business precinct.

THE CHALLENGE
Outdated perimeter fencing created surveillance blind spots and made the premium business address look unprofessional. Tenants expressed concerns about vehicle security and inadequate visitor management, which are affecting their lease renewal decisions. The property owners needed to upgrade security without compromising the building's modern architectural appeal. Failure to address these issues risked losing key tenants to competitors with superior security infrastructure.
THE APPROACH
We designed architectural steel fencing with laser-cut panels that function as both an art installation and a security barrier. The system integrated vehicle barriers with biometric access points for seamless authorized entry and exit. Our fabrication team matched the steel finish to the existing building facade and precinct design guidelines. This custom design enhanced the property's visual appeal while hardening the perimeter against unauthorized access.

Phase 1: Conducted security assessment with tenant representatives. Designed custom steel panels to match building aesthetics and precinct guidelines.
Phase 2: Fabricated 340 meters of architectural steel fencing with powder coating in corporate colors. Added automated vehicle gates and crash-rated bollards.
Phase 3: Integrated visitor management systems and license plate recognition. Completed landscaping to enhance street appeal.

THE RESULTS
Security Impact: Vehicle incidents dropped from 11 to 1 annually. Unauthorized access attempts reduced by 89%.
Cost Savings: Improved tenant retention prevented R1.8 million in vacancy costs. Reduced security personnel requirements by 30%, saving R380,000 yearly.
Community Benefit: Enhanced pedestrian safety and street aesthetics. Increased foot traffic to ground-floor retail by 12%.
Compliance: Exceeded PSIRA commercial security standards and Johannesburg CBD improvement district requirements.
