Gateway Metalworks upgraded perimeter security at a 4.2-hectare pharmaceutical manufacturing facility that was experiencing critical security failures. The project included high-security fencing, vehicle barriers, and automated access control systems. We focused on creating an impenetrable boundary to protect sensitive inventory and manufacturing equipment. This upgrade secured the facility against organized crime and opportunistic theft.
THE CHALLENGE
Existing chain-link fencing failed multiple security audits and allowed easy access for intruders stealing valuable inventory. The facility faced insurance premium increases and potential contract losses without compliant infrastructure. Management needed a robust physical barrier that integrated with electronic monitoring systems. Any downtime during installation posed risks to ongoing production schedules and revenue.
THE APPROACH
We designed a multi-layer security system with 3-meter palisade fencing, vehicle barriers, and integrated detection zones. The plan included crash-rated bollards at vulnerable loading bays and reinforced access points. Our team coordinated installation during off-peak hours to maintain full operational capacity throughout construction. This method secured the perimeter without disrupting the manufacturing workflow or production targets.
Phase 1: Removed 720 meters of outdated fencing during off-peak hours. Installed temporary barriers to maintain security during construction.
Phase 2: Erected new palisade fencing with anti-climb features. Added crash-rated bollards at vehicle entry points and reinforced pedestrian gates.
Phase 3: Integrated sensor mounting points and perimeter lighting. Completed staff training on new access protocols.
